Knightly St John, a centre of mayhem and danger? Surely not. But
who knows …?
There’s a new Detective Superintendent (DSU) in the county,
appointed as Head of the Criminal Investigation Department to
bring fresh thinking into the work of the CID. But how original
can the new DSU be when faced with a murder enquiry in which the
victim is unknown and cannot be identified, no murder weapon has
been found and the precise location of the crime has not been
made public?
Almost inevitably Marnie Walker finds herself drawn into the
mystery. When a relative of one of her tenants describes the
area as ‘dangerous’, Marnie feels obliged to prove the opposite.
On the other hand, more than one resident of Glebe Farm is
convinced they are being followed by a stalker. And there is no
doubt that someone is keeping them under surveillance. But for
what possible reason?
All the action takes place at a time when the whole area is
being terrorised by gangs on motorbikes.
Could it be that the quiet corner of the county around Knightly
St John is a dangerous place after all? Can the free-thinking
new DSU resolve the problems or is everything spiralling out of
control?
Once again Marnie and those close to her are dragged into events
against their will with frightening and sometimes tragic
consequences.
